Loose papers of Rev. Henry Grew and other family members include some business and personal papers of Boston merchant John Grew (1780-1821) regarding his firm Grew and Burditt. Most of the correspondence concerns Henry Grew's executorship of his brother John Grew's estate and his guardianship of John Grew's children, Anna Grew Alvord, Sarah Grew Potts, Charles, Edward, Henry, and John Grew (1805-21). Papers consist of dividend statements, receipts of distributed and earned income, and yearly financial statements for each of the Grew children. Also included are school exercise books of Edward S. Grew. Bound vols. include account books of family and household expenses (1810-19); of the administration of John Grew's estate (1821-67); of the Boston dry goods firms of Chace and Grew, Grew and Perkins, and Perkins, Doe, and Co. (1838-60) with which Henry Grew (b. 1808) was involved; and other misc. account books (1831-91), including some textile shipping records (1849).
